The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.”
— Ashley Montagu
DAY 1:
Lapland ceases to amaze and surprise.
You have to know that the #wineindustry in Sweden (together with Norway and Canada) is controlled by the government. The state owns the monopoly and restricts the sale of alcohol to limit the consumption of it.
Although its one of the biggest wine importers 🙈 (just more import of bigger wine houses)
Hmm, let’s see which wines we will get from this vacay?

DAY 2&3:
"There is no winter without snow, no spring without sunshine, and no happiness without companions." — Korean Proverb
And my companion today, aside from my amazing partner, is this 2019 Pinot Noir from Bouchard Aine et Fils 2019.
As thought, wines selection is very limited here in #Lapland. 4 wines on the menu. Guess we will try them all, 🫣. Let’s taste them:
- 🍷 Bouchard Aîné & Fils - Pinot Noir 2019
👀 Elegant ruby red
👃 Nose: subtle nose with aromas of black and fruits of cherry, strawberry, raspberry
👅 Palate: round mouth, soft tannins, red fruits as mentioned on the nose, soft notes of oak, leather, coffee
🍷 N12 Paco & Lola (#albarino)
👀 Straw yellow with greenish, that is bright
👃 Floral & citrus notes on the nose. Medium high acidity and thinking about pear, cream apple, peach, violets and roses.
👅 Palate: well balanced in the mouth between crisp fruitiness and acidity. Flavors of citrus, lemon, pear, grapefruit, peach, apple, melon, roses.. overall an aromatic fresh wine.
Founded in 2005, Paco & Lola is created by a group of independent growers wanting to make a high quality wine with a distinctive identity. Over 400 growers strong, they formed a cooperative called “Sociedad Cooperativa Vitivinícola Arousana.”
Albariño - what a playful, intense and beautiful wine variety that demands serious attention, while also inviting bliss and whimsy. How fabulously contradictory and fascinating it is!
But then again, the best of us are full of beautiful contradictions and tensions aren’t we? Lol.😘
Alright…time to go make some new memories. I wonder which little moments from this year we’ll each recall decades from now. 🤔❤️
Have a beautiful Thursday What memories will you make today?

DAY 4&5
“In case you ever foolishly forget; I’m never not thinking of you.” — Virginia Woolf
(So don’t want to break up like the song you hear. Not with the wine, the travel and the man of course 😛)
Lapland is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to. The beautiful nature, the enormous amounts of snow and of course the most important thing: the northern lights, or like the real nerd would call it: The aurora borealis! Other things Lapland is famous for are the husky rides, the snowmobile ride, langlaufen …
Just one thing Lapland is not famous for.. Guess you know it… Jep, wine 🙈!
Still we have 2 wines left on the menu, let’s try them tonight. Need to practice anyways for the #wset4 level.
- 🍷 Bouchard Aîné & Fils - Chablis 2018
👀 Pale gold
👃Nose: pleasant aromas of hazelnut and apricot
👅 Palate: well balanced, round and creamy, notes from stone fruits like mandarin,
- 🍷 R3 2019 (riesling)
👀Pale lemon
👃Nose: Peach, green apple, ripe apple, lemon are the first words that pops in my mind
👅Palate: Clean, crisp, firm acidity, steely minerality, ripe citrus notes, green apple,
What’s your winter mood?

Ps, you have to book them! Incredible
