"People are very open-minded about new things, as long as they're exactly like the old ones." — Charles Kettering
I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of this in various forms - be it in wine or elsewhere.
And yes, I’m certainly guilty of it too. Sometimes you are judging the book by it’s cover. And knowing that it was a red, oldish #cabernetSauvignon, I was nervous. I have not been shy about my pickiness for this grape.
Well, cut me a heaping slice of humble pie my friends, because I loved it!
The nose shows smoky saddle leather with dark fruit, meaty, cassis, tapenase aromas with some spice, earth and dried leaves. Already showing some fine bottle nuances.
On the palate it is fresh and well structured with dark fruit and earthy leathery undertones with some cedar, black olive and cassis. The finish is long with hints of cocoa and tobacco.
Turns out I really, really liked this Jean Leon Reserva with 100% Cabernet sauvignon from Spain. 🤩
Happy Saturday friends! Let’s remember to not take everything so seriously today - leave a little room for some unadulterated simple pleasures. Cheers!
