El abuelo - Spain

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Where do you #happyplace midweek? I bet you can guess where I go for my dose.

South Africa? Georgia? That would work. 🥰 But I can’t get there midweek.

Sicily? US? The happiest of places for my soul and heart. But, same issue. (Plus my friends knows I won’t come back 😂.)

So what do I have tonight? Let’s start the tasting notes:

- Intense ruby red color

- On the nose, aromas of prunes, raisins and leather

- Prominent tannins at the tip of the tongue, combined with leather, smoke, tobacco hints. Dusty shots. Blackcurrant nose, dark plum. Medium bodied.

The #elabuelo from #spain. A combination from #monestrell, #cab and the #tempranillo grape.

Grapes are sources from trellised and bush vines that are 25 - 45 years old.

Did you know?

- The main grape in Spain is #tempranillo.

- Tempranillo in Spanish means early, as the grape tends to ripen much earlier than the other grapes

- The roots of the grape easily absorb potassium, which leads to an increased acid content in the grapes

- It pairs great with beef or lamb, or tomato based dishes like pasta or grilled vegetables

Getting hungry again 😋
